Within the framework of Component II of the EU-financed EUROFRONT project, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and in coordination with the Interior Ministry of Ecuador through the Directorate for the Prevention of Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling, the Manual for the Use and Handling of the Monitoring System for the Management of Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling (SISEGETT) was developed, as was and the System for the Registration of Victims of Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling (REGISTRATT).
Quito, 15 November 2021. With the aim of promoting the tools to be used, workshops were held in Quito on 11 and 12 November, aimed at their employment and management. These workshops saw the active participation of the entities that make up the Inter-Institutional Coordination Committee for the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling and the Protection of its Victims. All agreed that the space of the committee should be strengthened for future improvements in the system and in the process of planning and monitoring inter-institutional organisation to comply with public policy in this area.
Regarding the System for the Registration of Victims of Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling (REGISTRATT), important statistics on these issues show that the strengthening of institutional capacities improves the operational effectiveness of information entry. It was also pointed out that an ongoing activation of the technical table of the statistical operation would be necessary, as well as the constant coordination between the areas involved of the National Police, Interior Ministry, the State Attorney General's Office and the entities of the Inter-Institutional Coordination Committee for the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling and the Protection of its Victims.
